Alex Hui, OD, PhD, FAAO, is a Lecturer at the School of Optometry and Vision Science at UNSW Sydney in Sydney, Australia. He completed his OD on the Dean’s Honour’s list at the School of Optometry & Vision Science at the University of Waterloo in 2010, and his PhD, investigating antibiotic releasing contact lens materials, at the Centre for Ocular Research & Education at the University of Waterloo in 2014. During his PhD, he was awarded the W.B Pearson Medal (2015) from the University of Waterloo, the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) Da Vinci Award (2014), the Desmond Fonn Contact Lens Research Award (2013) and the American Optometric Foundation (AOF) Ezell Fellowship (2011 and 2012). He is an author on more than 15 peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed publications, and has given talks in Australia, Canada, the USA and Japan. His research interests include contact lenses, myopia control, ocular therapeutics and drug delivery.
